Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Tor M — 13 Nov 2016
Steven Spielberg. When he is the man, you know you are not served something poor. Sometimes he hits big time, other times he delivers all right movies. All of them has a solid story and knows how to please you. What you rarely get is surprizes and this results in often cliche filled films.
During the cold war a Russian guy is thrown in jail for spy stuff. Tom Hanks' character is going to be his lawyer - not a very popular job. They bond. Maybe he can get him of the hook? Things turn easier when an American fella is convicted as a spy in Russian territory. Can they make a swap?
OK story, OK film. Strangely enough it keeps me very interested and the two hours plus flew by. Not the most interesting or exciting film, but I like the characters, the acting, the atmosphere and the pace.
