Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by F B — 17 Jan 2016
An amazing production and the finest film to date. Spielberg does not disappoint and does not fall into excess. There is a finely written screenplay written by the Coen Brothers that is detailed in the tensions of the Cold War and imbues it with light touches.
Hanks helms this gem and he gives a beautifully human performance. He is matched by Mark Rylance's Russian spy Rudolf Abel. The pedigree of the supporting cast is perfect. They all truly bring back the Cold War espionage thriller and at the same time incorporate a timely connection to events that occur today.
You could not ask for a finer film.
