Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Tristan M — 25 Jun 2016
Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have been working together so long on so many great movies that now pretty much anything they come up with is a masterpiece, including this movie. There is no lack of films that take place in this era of worldwide tensions, however this one takes on a very specific events one I know nothing about and can't confirm its historical accuracy, but can confirm on how convincing it is either way.
Hanks and Mark Rylance both deliver great performances, but it's Rylance that captures the attention of the audience in every scene he's in, due to his amazing acting and lack of emotion, combined with the great script and cinematography.
That all combined really makes the movie what it is, it's not all American propaganda or anything like that, it's realistic and convincing. The scenes at the Berlin Wall were well shot too, and showed the tension and military well that surrounded the area.
The ending is somewhat predictable, but still brings out emotion with how it was shot, and is a standing point in the film. Overall very good movie, nothing I can point out that I don't like, same with all of Spielbergs movies, coupled with great acting, script, and style, and realistic sets.
