Review of Bridesmaids (2011) by Paul R — 06 Mar 2013
If all comedy was as cynical and shallow as "Bridesmaids" proves to be, then the word "comedy" should be synonymous to "superficial". Any laughs to be had can solely come from the redeemable members of the cast including the brutish, self-sufficient Melissa McCarthy.
While Kristen Wig, unabashedly shows a callow, loathing person of jealously that pre-date the female stereotype of being ignorant and jealous while parading around as a female's "Hangover" only to come off as a public service message of women in the most tedious and trivial situations.
How can this be considered "the comedy of the year" when the high point of this film's comedy is women defecating in the bathroom and their bridal dresses? Wig may seem to be a voice for women in comedies.
but if that's the case with this film, then god help us all as a new sloth of comedies with more despicable characters to influence a generation of women looking up to these figures.
