Review of Bridesmaids (2011) by Emily W — 09 Dec 2013
Bridesmaids is a hilarious take on wedding preparation. When Lillian (Maya Rudolph) gets engaged, best friend Annie (Kristen Wiig) is asked to take on the role of maid of honor. While struggling with her own messy love life and financial woes, Annie is willing to do whatever it takes to make her best friend happy. However, when Lillian's friend Helen (Rose Byrne) is introduced, things spiral out of control. Battling to prove to Lillian who is the better friend, Annie and Helen end up causing chaos, leading to an unhappy bride. However, in the end, this story proves that nothing can ruin a true friendship, not even a failed attempt at being the maid of honor.
The hilarious storyline of Bridesmaids is supported by its equally hilarious cast. Maya Rudolph's bridesmaids include Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy. Each brings their own comedic talents to the table, resulting in a group of outrageous personalities.
Bridesmaids is full of crude humor, making it undesirable for certain audiences. However, it has a good story line and is always good for a laugh.
