This is great fun. While parts of the plot and some characters don't stand up to much scrutiny, there's a lot it gets right...
It's really funny, plenty of laugh-out-loud scenes (engagement party speeches, the bridal shop, in the jewellry store) and a great attitude.
The characters are mainly well-rounded. Annie is at times really annoying but still sympathetic.
I really liked Chris O'Dowd, which is a minor miracle - I loved his relationship with Annie and their dialogue.
Melissa McCarthy is fab.
And they just about get away with the more-than-slightly-sappy-ending.
