Review of Bridesmaids (2011) by Valerie P — 12 Jul 2015
I am shamefully behind on my movie reviews. Considering that I watched this film back in February, I believe I have some major catching up to do!
Luckily, this is not a film that one forgets in a hurry! I received it as a gift and sat down to give it a try with my husband one night, when we were desperately in need of a laugh.
The film did not let us down.
I am not a huge fan of comedy these days, as it often runs to puerile gags that just make me grimace. Bridesmaids did have some of that crass humor that I tend to avoid, but it also had a real sentimentality at its heart. In truth, it's a story about true friends - the people who really know us. I didn't really expect to feel any tugs on my heartstrings with the supposedly "funniest film of the year", but sometimes film surprises you in a good way.
Go with the laughter, crass or not. Just go along for the ride. I highly doubt you will regret it.
