Review of Bridesmaids (2011) by Josh K — 22 May 2013
Bridesmaids is a really funny comedy, while it is also slightly better than The Hangover. Some people have compared it with The Hangover, more as a female Hangover film, but it is something that is entirely different and on a different scale.
The film focuses on two great friends, with one of the friends being asked to be the maid of honor at her friend's wedding. The rest of the film than focuses on her misadventures at trying to arrange events and help out her friend's wedding.
Throughout the whole film, it perfectly stays together with a great structure, while never losing its footing. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are great as the two leads, with Chris O'Dowd being perfectly cast a police officer who falls in love with Wiig's character.
The best actor in the film is Melissa McCarthy who delivers a breakout performance as a rude and funny member of the bridesmaids, while Jon Hamm also delivers a great performance as Wiig's dirty boyfriend.
The film is funny and never falls flat, with great characters and a terrific plot. Well done.
