Review of Bridesmaids (2011) by Michael M — 15 Oct 2012
Women get a bad rap in comedy, so it's great for a film like this to come along and show how funny they can be. It collects some of the funniest women currently in Hollywood and throws them together in a series of shenanigans.
The plots jealousy motive was a bit too cliché for me, and led to a few moments that were more awkward than they were amusing. In general though, the straightforward story works. The situations are silly, but the women are sillier, and that's what matters.
And like everyone has already said about the film, Melissa McCarthy is a delight and absolutely steals the show.
