Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Alysa C — 15 Aug 2008
The performances were wonderful and the sets were beautiful, but the story was lacking. it raised many questions but failed to answer any. perhaps that was the point of the movie: we're all confused and none of us know how we are 'supposed' to live our lives. or perhaps it was simply meant to give us a peak into the dark and deeply troubled realities of the decade. either way, I caught myself wondering 'why am I watching this? what's the point of this movie? what are you trying to tell me?!'.
Anyway, it felt MUCH longer than a mere hour and forty minutes. it was unnecessarily slow in parts and too quick in others.
There is a chance that this movie was of immeasurable brilliance, but it lost my interest long before the end (which, ironically was the beginning. ha.).
