Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Simon C — 24 Aug 2008
This adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel turns into a slog despite a strong cast. Matthew Goode is too indifferent as the ambitious Charles, and Emma Thompson can't redeem the movie in a supporting role as a woman in thrall to her religion.
Ben Whishaw is an up-and-comer as Sebastian and Michael Gambon excellent in his brief role as an aristocrat trying to escape his life.
