Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Clare R — 05 Oct 2008
The first half of this adaptation is great - beautiful scenery, an intriguing relationship between the two male leads, funny quips and the wonderfully enigmatic Lady Marchmain brilliantly played by Emma Thompson.
.. but the second half loses momentum when the latter and her troubled son Sebastian leave the action. Matthew Goode is excellent and solid throughout but Hayley Atwell is a little bland. The whole thing could have been a lot better if it wasn't, as feared, so 'sexed up'.
