Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Jenna I — 02 Jan 2009
It's a portrait of the rich family (Flyte) as seen through the eyes of a young and ambitious artist who befriends Sebastian Flyte and falls for his sister Julia. The movie explores subjects as alcoholicsm, homosexuality and mostly catholicism and greed.
It may not be as subtle as a novel by Evelyn Waugh and the characters aren't really explored in depths, but it still represents the same idea Waugh wrote about. And a note for all those hardcore novel fans who criticise the movie as not being the same as the novel: for fuck's sake, you just can't write a novel (that goes for about 300 or 400 pages) into a screenplay, cause it'd be a mess.
you have to strip it and eventually write only important moments into a screenplay.
