Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by David B — 21 Mar 2009
The miniseries is one of the greatest masterpieces to ever air on television, so I'm still trying to decipher why this needed to be remade. However, if you don't have time to watch the entire series or read the book, this is a good substitute.
I loved any scene that Matthew Goode and Ben Whishaw had together. Plus, how can one go wrong with Emma Thompson? With wonderful cinematography and fine acting, it's definitely a must-see for anyone who loves British/English flicks.
It's definitely one of the most beautifully shot films I've seen in years. It's hard not to compare it to the original with Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews, but if you put that aside, you'll see that it holds it's own.
For those who've never seen the miniseries, by watching this, it should make you want to seek it out and see what was left out of the story.
