Better than most new offerings but nowhere near the Masterpiece Theater 10-hour --- oh yeah --- Masterpiece. This one goes way way too fast - it loses the elegiac rhythm of the original. Ryder is well cast and Emma does a wonderful job as queen M but alas disappears from the screen too early. Julia and Sebastian just don't work.
All in all better to just live in the prose unless you have a copy of the original.
