Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Katrina C — 06 Sep 2009
Truth be told, I was a little disappointed by this movie. I expected more forbidden love and passion and less religion. Having many problems with the Catholic religion myself, I understand where many of these characters come from.
The fear, the guilt, the blind devotion; all resonate with my own bringing at times, but really, I wanted drama and love and sex and lies. That's what I expected from this movie. Hence my disappointment when I found very few scenes of that nature within this movie.
However, it was beautifully filmed and the locations were to die for. The acting was above par, and Charles Ryder is a, all in all, likeable character who I wished the best for from beginning to end.
