Review of Brideshead Revisited (2008) by Yingqi L — 03 Sep 2010
Very impressive, the performances, the structure of the movie, the concise and so precise pinpointing of emotions in memorable phrases and expressions. A movie about guilt, about the unshakeable influence of your moral upbringing.
The contrasts between Charles & the family are so well expressed through these themes, the different locations and characters and in the end it is clear that Charles is just as 'predetestined' as they are.
We all have our traumas, our idée fixes and even if we rebel against them, we can never really ever shake them off completely. Respect for this Great Movie.
