Review of Bride Wars (2015) by ~*Redneck's — 08 Jul 2010
Bride Wars (2009).
Written by Greg DePaul and Casey Wilson.
Directed by Gary Winick.
Starring: Kate Hudson (Liv) and Anne Hathaway (Emma).
I so hate to admit it, but I actually enjoyed this movie. Not in an I'd-see-it-again sort of way, but it's definitely not the worst chick flick I've watched. Kate Hudson is her cute, predictable self who I can't complain about except to say I'm a bit bored with it, and this may be the least I've ever hated Anne Hathaway. I attribute the latter to her ridiculous pole dancing scene which was amazingly reminiscent of some "Princess Diaries" shenanigans. The difference being that she's gained just enough acting skills now that I didn't want to claw off my skin from embarrassment for her. A step in the right direction, Ms. Hathaway. I would have enjoyed cuter fiancés, since there was serious mismatch happening. Other than that, there were some sweet, albeit totally unrealistic yet unsurprising, moments that put a smile on my face. If you're in the mood for girl bonding, go for it. If you're in the mood for a movie you haven't seen before, skip it.
Rating: The Cutting Edge.
Best Quote: "If I were your wedding, I'd be sleeping with one eye open." -Liv.
