Review of Bride Wars (2015) by Tamara H — 03 Aug 2011
I realize that liking Bride Wars is probably going to lower my credability a considerable amount, but, honestly, I actually did kind of like it. The plot is pretty self explanatory: Two best friends, Emma and Liv, are both engaged around the same time. They both share a dream of getting married in June at the Plaza, and are ecstatic when they find out their dream is becoming a reality. The catch: their weddings are accidentally scheduled on the same day at the same time, and neither girl wants to find a different venue. What ensues is a large battle between brides.
Okay, the first thing I have to say is that if you are choosing to watch Bride Wars, I think it's pretty obvious that you're not about to see an Acadamy Award nominee movie. It's a fun, light film and if you're looking for something with depth, a rom-com isn't going to offer very much. I will say, though, if you're a guy, you're definitely going to hate this movie. However, I thought that Bride Wars's plot was a fairly good one for a rom-com. It's a very good girls' movie night movie, and I think it's pretty funny in some scenes. It's true that it's cliche and predictable, but what movie isn't these days? These are all pathetic excuses, I know, but I think the characters are likeable and the ending is cute. So sue me.
