Review of Bride Wars (2009) by Movie K — 04 Feb 2012

Two beautiful actress in one chick flick ain't that bad. The movie strive on repeated formula but still it is nice on its own. As kids, two young girls always play wedding game and dream of it. They grow up and are besties all the way.

Kate Hudson is packing when she discover a ring box. Anne Hathaway go home and her boyfriend Chris Pratt propose to her by putting a ring in the fortune cookie. She call and tell Kate about the news. Now she wonder why her boyfriend Steve Howey have not propose.

She go to his office and rush him. He propose to her on the spot even though he planning to do it later. Both of them find the top wedding planner Candice Bergen. They choose same month and venue. Kate choose date 6th and Anne on 27th.

Later, Candice tell them a mistake is made by the assistant and now both their wedding is on same day. They try to ask another lady to change her date and she refuse. So the two friends decide to just hold on and wait to see who will give up.

Kate send out the invitation card which angers Anne because that's not the agreement. They both squabble and declare war in front of their friends who won't take sides. Anne find her bully colleague Kristen Johnston as bridesmaid.

Kristen suggest to send chocolates make Kate fat so she can't wear the Vera Wang wedding gown. Kate saw Anne wedding plan, saw a dance item and sabotage her by asking a hip hop teacher instead. Anne publish Kate's ugly picture in their local community paper.

Kate tell others Anne marry so urgently because she is pregnant. Kate make Anne tanning session worse (darken). Anne fight back by making her hair dye session screw up (blue hair). Anne appear uninvited at Kate's bachelorette party and have a dance-off which Anne wins big time.

Kate is drunk and woke up late next day and screw up in a meeting, got taken off the case by her boss. She feels maybe Anne is right about her attitude. Chris can't stand Anne attitude lately been too bitchy and they quarrel.

Anne rid her tan and Kate got her hair back. Anne bump into Kate's brother Bryan Greenberg who is also good friend. He tag her along to try tuxedo. On the wedding day, Kate ask Steve to change back Anne's wedding dvd montage.

But he throw it away. During Anne's walk-down, the embarrassing video of her naughty past is shown. She blow her top and rush to Kate's ballroom and catfight. She just lie down and giving up the tussle.

Anne then tell Chris she is calling off the wedding because she is not who she is 10 years ago when they know each other. He just left sadly. Anne become Kate's bridesmaid. A year later when they meet, Anne marry to Bryan.

They are both pregnant and same due date.
