Review of Bride Wars (2009) by Junelkean — 08 Jul 2017
A wedding is the most scared ceremony for people who are tied with the extraordinary energy of love. They commit themselves to a union that would last a lifetime. But a wedding could also turn a woman into an anxious perfectionist and control freak. Best friends Emma (Hathaway) and Liv (Hudson), for example, discover that their wedding has clashed dates and as they sabotage each other's preparation, they face the ultimate test of their friendship.
Hathaway and Hudson reveals their capability as comedic and entertaining actresses when they share the screen. Their passion and chemistry are the saving graces of this movie from its failing screenplay. It also contains signatures of a chick flick such as cute and dazzling montages, very feminine weapons and glittery things.
What the movie fails to do is to achieve good scriptwriting. It is done with such ridiculousness, that it takes some scenes to be too silly and unrealistic. Also, the laughs hardly hit to the guts and gets redundant over the course of time.
VERDICT: The title of this movie should be "Confessions of the Control Freak Brides and Their Sophisticated Weapons" or "Last Bipolar Bride Standing".
