This is, in my opinion, Ed Wood's "best" unintentionally funny movie. The storyline is implausible at best, yet it remains coherent. The acting is rather bad although the dialogues do not continually plague the action as in Plan 9 from outer space (Wood 1959).

There are technical errors all over the place : sound, visuals, accessories... you name it. Contrary to other movies made by Ed Wood, Bela Lugosi actually has a significant role in this one (which is interesting), although acting tricks revived from his Dracula past (hypnotic eyes and hands) make some parts really awkward.

Actually, if someone wanted to make Lugosi look like the fallen star that he was withoug directly humiliating him, there would have been no better way to do it. However, taking the context into account, this result was most probably unintentional, being a side effect of Ed Wood's now legendary clumsy directing.
