Review of Bride of Re-Animator (1990) by Richard W — 30 Apr 2008
One of the benefits of a sequel is the familiarity the audience has with the characters and the storyline and one of the drawbacks is the feeling of having seen it all before. This sequel to the horror classic re-Animator equally benefits and suffers from this scenario.
Seeing Doctors West, Cain and Hill again is like greeting old friends (even if one is a decapitated head) and the familiarity the audience has allows the story to hit the ground running with the minimum of explanation and exposition.
Unfortunately the film runs out of steam before the end as it descends into a bloody mess and a feeling of having seen it done before and better. Still worth a look though.
