Review of Bride of Re-Animator (1990) by Andrew H — 24 Aug 2008
I'm a little biased because I think Yuzna can do no wrong but this is a great picture. In Scream, when they discuss sequels which are better than the originals (which have to be good too) they should have "Bride".
Why so great? Its totally over the top, but the effects and madcap storyline keep delivering. Jeffrey Combs is solid as ever and almost makes you believe it all (unlike in the Antipodean conterparts to this type of picture which are a bit too "knowing" for my taste). Even the music is great though it owes a great deal to Bernard Hermann and Psych in particular. Great stuff.
