For me, this will always be the crown jewel of monster films. There is a lot of camp but nothing beats the pathos of almost every one of Karloff's scenes. He also gets to do a lot of good ass-kicking when he goes on the rampage and gives the generic 'villagers with torches' a taste of their own medicine.
