It's not an overstatement to say that it doesn't get much better than this. In a class of mine, we talked about how sympathetic the monster is, as compared to other movies during the monster movie craze of the 1930s.
It's true, we see that he didn't undestand the little girl wouldn't float, we see his face when he hears the blind man play the violin, etc.
