Review of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by Thatcher B — 25 Aug 2010
A very few believe this is a bad movie. On the other hand, most other people can recognize the Bride of Frankenstein [notably her spiral hairdo] for the few minutes she is actually in the movie. And this is also very rare to find a horror movie sequel [or a sequel of any kind of movie] to actually almost supersede the original.
It's just that the original was the breakthrough, and you can't stick to it or the audience will feel like they are watching the original instead of the sequel. Change everything around too much and you hate all of the characters and the plot.
Although you do not see too much of the likable Colin Clive, there is a new mad doctor, fulfilling the look with the wacky hair-style. Also notable is the emotional side of Frankenstein and the eventual speech of the character himself! That's something you don't see everyday.
So just watch the movie and if you are bored, then that's still okay. This is a classic.
