Review of Bride of Chucky (1998) by Hillary D — 07 Jun 2012

In some peoples opinion this is where the franchise took a nose dive. I don't think that was the case at all. this isn't a harsh criticism, but I haven't take these films seriously since the first "Child's Play" movie. They have taken on a comedic spin, the second and third films were unintentional, but in Bride Of Chucky, the humor was intentionally pushed to the limit. Its the only explanation for hiring Jennifer Tilly for one of the lead roles.

Bride of chuck follows on from where it left off In Child's Play 3. Chuckys former girlfriend Tiffany, acquires the dolls remains from the police evidence locker after murdering a police officer who removed the "Good Guy" doll parts from an evidence locker, Tiffany stitches Chucky back together and performs the voodoo ritual which instilled Put chuckys soul in the doll originally. Though her chants initially fail to produce results, Chucky springs to life and kills Tiffany's goth admirer, Tiffany locks Chucky in a playpen , gets out and kills her, then puts Tiffany into a doll. Chucky, who is still intent on becoming human again, lays out a plan to retrieve the body-switching amulet he was wearing on the night he was killed.

I do have to admit this was my favourite of the series. The humor does give it the edge it needs. Seeing a female counter part to chucky also adds something special to film. Some outstanding points that need mentioning, The Soundtrack was excellent. granted not everyone's cup of tea, but anyone whos a fan of rock or metal will appreciate it as a great addition.

The performances given by most of the actors is on point, with the exception of Katherine Heigl. I have enjoyed a lot of her work including "Roswell" and "Grey's Anatomy" but she seemed a little out of place in this genre. If your a fan of comedic horror or the child play series and haven't seen this, I highly recommend it.
