Review of Bride of Chucky (1998) by Alex M — 03 Sep 2012
Only Don Mancini could get away with parodying his own horror creation. Can you imagine Freddy Krueger or Jason Vorhees getting paired with a love interest, while on their murderous escapades? Exactly why it's so odd to see here, but I guess that's why they did it. because nobody else dared to take their icon to that forbidden territory.
Jennifer Tilly was a good choice but I hated her tiffany character- it's like jennifer tilly on meds. she always seemed out of it and slightly self deprecating. It also has John Ritter in one of his weirdest roles as a sheriff type...but I've never seen him play someone so incompetent and idiotic. why he would agree to that role, idk. better I suppose than his role in Bad Santa.
Katherine Heigl is the worst horror heroine I've ever seen, but I guess it makes the movie even more humorous.
It still has the creative deaths, the creepy moments and graphic gore but chucky has become a lampoon.
