Review of Bride of Chucky (1998) by Brady L — 04 Dec 2017
If I had to describe this movie in a single word, it would be slow-burn (The hyphen makes it a single word). Not unlike the previous 3 films in the Chucky mythos, this film takes great lengths to get from point A to point B with very few murders occurring.
Despite that, it is a fun and interesting inclusion in the Child`s Play family and has the highest death count in any of the films at 9 (I do not include Chucky or Tiffany or the cop at the end).Seeing Katherine Heigl in the role as the young, horny girl running away from her severely overbearing officer uncle was well done and she plays that role as silly and campy as is necessary for a slasher film like this.
The tire troupe of who is killing everyone and finding blame everywhere but the dolls is yet again reincarnated for this film but it works as the two lovers are still learning who they are as a couple and as people and still learning to trust others.
The number 1 thing that annoyed me in this film and I hope I am not alone is Jennifer Tilly`s voice. It really gets on your nerves quickly and knowing she is the next film and also in future instalments make me wonder how much they are offering her and whether or not they can hear her voice when she runs her lines or if they put on ear protection.
Overall this film adds another notch to the Chucky franchise and is enjoyable to watch. Too bad when I write my review of the next film, it will not be as glowing.
