Review of Bride of Chucky (1998) by Richard G — 27 Mar 2010

Chucky has come a long way from Child's Play 2. The comedic moments actually work and do not take away from the dramatic believability of the rest of the story. And in its own dark, surrealistic world it is believable. The Bride character is even more likeable as a villain than Chucky in some ways. It's one of those fun films that work, where you know that the director understood perfectly what he was doing and was having a great time doing it. Its comments on modern society and culture are as realistic as others of the serious, which is refreshing. Comedy is known for its honesty, even dark humour.

The film works wonderfully for what it is.
