Review of Brick Mansions (2014) by Terrence M — 22 Oct 2014
Within 2 minutes into it, I thought to myself this is just like a movie that came out a while back B13. Looking it up I found out that this is a remake. If they had advertised this as a remake I would have been more excited to see it.
B13 was a French action movie with a lot of parkour stunts. I still remember 10 years later because it was a fun novelty at the time. I realize that subtitled action movies for me get much more leeway in the story department.
There are many reasons the original is superior but one is the French take on stereotypical gangsters. In an American remake stereotypical gangsters feel generic. Also since Paul Walker can't do the same stunts as the original actor in his place one of the actors from the original film is in this.
Bottom line: rent if you want some parkour action scenes.
