Review of Brick (2006) by Adam M. F — 14 Oct 2010
A very original film with a unique style. it's like a modern day detective film, set in high school. there are a lot of sped up punches and slaps when the character of Brendan gets a beating and they are really effective! - like a comic book. There are some really interesting camera shots and the flashback sequence at the beginning is beautiful and really draws you into the story straight away.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is amazing as always, playing a completely different character to the ones he did in The Lookout, 500 days of Summer and Inception! The few scenes that Emile DeRavin (Claire form Lost :P) were in were really emotional and I felt sorry for her character.
The ending was very interesting and well shot also.
