Take your old-school hard-boiled mystery story and transpose it to a modern-day setting, add a well-written script, and a breakout performance by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and what you get is one of the more unique movies of the past 10 years.
Also an interesting performance by Lucas Haas as a local drug dealer. Great Film!
