Review of Brick (2006) by Iven S — 05 Aug 2012
Whoa, "Brick" was cool, Detective mystery set in a high school done in a film noir style. Its refreshing to get something done with its own style. I came into this without knowing anything about it and I have to say I really enjoyed.
I really liked the script, the dialogue had a refreshing twist in it that was contemporary yet unique. Still the use of some words kind of throw you off a bit but by just sticking with it you pick up the definitions and it sinks you more into this strange world.
With all the style and great performances the only place it fell short for me is that it did feel unattached, that is, maybe because of the script, or the language, or even the setting it did feel a little surreal so having less of a punch when it came to the real emotion for feeling for its characters.
Still, I enjoyed this movie.... and I do recommend it for the lovers of mysteries.
