Review of Brick (2006) by Jonathan E — 11 Oct 2012
After watching the movie Looper, I was interested to know what other movies Rian Johnson has directed and as it turns out he hasn't directed much, but he did direct a compelling noir movie in 2006.
This movie stars the talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt who plays a loner in a high school, who finds out his ex-girlfriend has been murdered, so he alone tries to solve the mystery of who did it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a fantastic role in this movie, he's a very talented actor and I loved seeing him in this film.
Nora Zehetner also plays a great role in this movie, I think she's the kind of actress who can play in noir type films, she's very good at them. The other co-stars were pretty good in the movie as well, but they were nothing compared to Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Nora Zehetner.
I think the real person who made this movie great was Rian Johnson because he directed this movie so well. I thought the camera shots were perfect and the whole dark tone of the movie was just brilliant.
He also wrote the script for this movie as well and again it just worked, it was dark and it was edgy, I think Rian Johnson is a very talented writer/director and I really hope he keeps making good movies like Looper and Brick.
So I say if your a fan of noir type movies and you like Rian Johnson's work than I suggest you give this a watch.
