Review of Brick (2006) by Fenky G — 10 Nov 2014
The very first instinct of an audience while watching a movie is finding someone to root for and then second is to find out why must he/she root for it. This movie gave none and didn't even bother to fill the gap.
It plainly doesn't like to share. A one man show by cheeky teenager is not a good way to establish an environment. The other characters are built with purpose of revolving around the cheeky main character, hence blunting their charisma.
Everyone there are quick on their feet but unfortunately, that is a poor thing because, again, it makes all the characters painfully equal hence dull. There are some clear difference between badassery and self-indulgence, and almost everything in this movie points on one side, and that's not the good side.
I mean, if you cannot get to a better thing because of something, You got to show at least why. It tried to please so hard, too hard hence it forgot how to intimidate. It is just... not enough reason.
