Review of Breathless (2009) by Sam C — 01 Aug 2008

"To become immortal, and then to die.".
This film is considered to be a masterpiece, the highest of the high points in the French New Wave. Well, I haven't seen many French New Wave films, so I can't really attest to that, but from a cinephile perspective, well, it was really fucking good. This movie was a first for many things, such as the jump cut and using a handheld camera. Michel, although trying his best to not be himself, is a complete and utter asshole. I really like the character of Patricia, the cast did a really good job here. This is the only film I've seen by Godard and I can't wait to see more.
