I certainly need to see this film again, and really take it in. However, it is a credit to Godard's talents that even in a first and unprepared viewing, the film drew me in with its oh-so-simple simplicity.
I don't know if Godard left it deliberately unpolished, but oddly enough, I don't care. It's a great film.
