Review of Breathless (2009) by Bob V — 12 Nov 2010
Another inaugural trumpet blast for the Nouvelle Vague, which I'm becoming more and more enamoured with, I must say.
This movie is credited with (albeit largely accidental and out of necessity) pioneering the jump cut, without which modern cinema can barely be imagined. Plotwise I had the eerie feeling througout that I was watching a francophone Tarantino movie. Acting is superb, and turns out Belmondo really was hot once upon a time, how do you like them apples!
