The director which sparked the french new wave with francois truffaut presents a technically astute film with "breathless" jump cuts..one of the first to defy the american style of film making..

There's not much to the plot (very american) where a hoodlum (michel) after having killed a police officer runs from the police with his girlfriend (patricia, an eccentric character whom he wants to sleep with all the time)giving him assistance..

The nonchalant long scenes (like the one in the bedroom with patricia and Michel) having nothing to do with the plot gives a fellini feel to the movie.
