This film is influential because of the accidental jump-cut that Scorsese and other American directors abused (sometimes very well). A lot of people refuse to watch this thinking it's a boring, arty, pretentious movie but it's actually the opposite; it is arty, so what?.
Godard's first film will stick with you and it is very entertaining. Let me repeat that: this film is entertaining, watch it - and you'll get more than entertainment. Classic.
