Review of Breathless (2009) by Daniel C — 07 Sep 2011
(Updated Review).
Jean-Luc Godard's masterpiece "Breathless" to the average movie goer is a chopped up, hard to follow, pointless film about love in Paris...... But to any film connoiseur, Breathless is a force of filmmaking nature that's story is as inventive and creative as its own characters. Breathless is the reason modern cinema is the way it is today. All those cuts in it? They were Godard's way of showing artistic freedom and drawing out of the lines... No more long panning shots, he wanted to mix things up. And Thus help start the French New Wave and boy did the cinema need these guys!! Not to talk all the credit alone, but Jean Seberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo deserve to be noted for their fantastic acting as well. Want to learn about Modern Cinema? Any cinephile will tell to start with the creative best. And that is Godard.
