Review of Breathless (2009) by Sarfaraz A — 01 Mar 2012
Breathless.
Dir: Jean-Luc Godard.
If you come to know about Breathless' behind-the-scenes story, you would realize how crafty and artistic work has been done upon this one of celebrated work on French New Wave film. Godard had to use wheelchair for his cinematographer as cranes were expensive, and look at the credit its cinematography is perceived from today's point of view. It is completely a successive attempt that movie bears many elements of different themes, which bring optimum recognition to movies, 'love for movies', 'crime', 'romance'.
Story is moving and sentimental, much lies within character 'Michel'. I must praise the director for the scene filmed inside a room, where Michel and Patricia talk over their issues in romantic and flirting way. Final scene from the movie, startled me, and I have been reading interviews of Godard to come to understand this most important scene in the film.
