Review of Breathless (2009) by Tyler E — 29 Jul 2013
Updated: (5/5) You never realize how free Breathless is until you compare to it to a movie with a set. This French new wave feature is bold, and liberated, and moves as freely as the cinematographer sees fit. The film has just enough "point" to be worth the time. Jean-Paul Belmondo is funny, and even at the most tragic scenes we are laughing. A kaleidoscopic cross-genre, Godard's feature has little bounds, but succeeds in where it limits itself.
(4/5) Apart from the amateur-ish filming style and poor scene editing, Breathless is great. Great dialogue, great movement, great movie.
