Review of Breathless (2009) by Andy P — 27 Jan 2014
Jean-Luc Godard's masterful yet modest film debut almost defies genre classification; there is a semblance of a crime thriller plot, a modern love story which appeals to contemporary audiences with its beat-culture, post-war cool antiheroes who treat love as a game and reject the traditional values they are stranded between.
All this complimented by a lovely noir jazz score, a hip aray of high and low culture references usually attributed with Tarantino and an on-the-fly shooting style with produced remarkable innovations.
