This film was very ambitious for its time. Some of the things done with the cinematography and structure really separate it from films in that era.
The lead actor did a good job at being this poor man's version of a Noir detective. I think that's the way this character should've been portrayed.
Some subplots were abandoned, but the film is satisfying.
