Review of Breathless (1983) by Matthew L — 27 Mar 2009
Perhaps the seminal film of the French New Wave, and surely Godard's most well-known work, Breathless employs innovative jump-cuts and discontinuous editing techniques, disorientating the viewer and reflecting the existential disorientation of the film's characters.
This film is an intriguing comparison of Franco-American attitudes, as well as a striking portrait of a disaffected generation.
