Great little black & white that is, yes, about crime... but even more it is about characters and romance. Michel is an interesting character for sure... one that we (as the audience) never can quite figure out if he's being truthful with Patricia or just playing her.
Patricia, on the other hand, is a stunning screen presence. The crime aspect provides a nice catapult for the ensuing events. A nice balance.
