Review of Breathless (1960) by Paul P — 17 Dec 2011
I've waited a little while before I jumped into Godard's library and Breathless is the first. Like a majority of the French New Wave films that would follow, it has a rare energy to it and it gushes with coolness.
Belmondo and Seberg are outstanding and the chemistry they share is a joy to watch, especially the hotel scene. The film is mashed back to back with great scenes. Even Jean-Pierre Melville, the father of the New Wave comes in and steals a scene.
